Korean stoneware with framed designs, such as this piece, began to be made from the late 17th century at Geumsa-ri kilns in the Kwangju-gun district of Gyeonggi-do Province. The framed design of flowers depicted in underglaze blue on the body of this bottle was a popular motif for Korean stoneware from the 18th century.
