This very early manuscript of Japan’s oldest imperially sanctioned official history—recording the origins of the country through ancient myths, legends, and imperial documents—is in a supple hand exemplifying calligraphy of-the mid Heian period. Today, this edition is identified by the name of its former owners, the Iwasaki family who ran the Mitsubishi conglomerate.
