Huang Yi (1744-1803), whose sobriquet was Dayi and pseudonym, Xiaosong, was a native of Hangzhou in China. He was partial to stone engravings and so often went to explore old stone monuments. The stone engravings of Wuliangci ("Wu family temple") were excavated by him. Huang Yi excelled in calligraphy in the clerical script. He reportedly modeled his small clerical script on the inscriptions of Wuliang Temple.
