Yang Jisheng (1516-55), whose sobriquet was Zhongfang and pseudonym, Jiaoshan, was a native of Rongcheng in the province of Hebei, China. He became a jinshi ("successful candidate of the national civil service examination held at the imperial capital") in 1546 (Jiajing 26), excelling in calligraphic works and paintings. Details about the recipient of this letter, Wang Jijin, remain unknown.
