Huang Yuezhong (also known as Jingzhai, dates unknown) was a native of Putian (Fujian Province). He was involved in the compilation of classics and the encyclopedia Yongle dadian ("Great Book of Eternal Delight"), and was known for his prowess in the kaishu (J., kaisho) "block" style calligraphy as well as in poetry. Nothing is known of Zhenlin Xiucai of the Yuan dynasty (1277-1368), to whom this poem was dedicated.
