This is a record of a poetry match held at the imperial palace, Yôzei-in, in either 912 (Engi 12) or 913 (Engi 13). It is part of the Record of Poetry Matches in Twenty Volumes, which was compiled around the Gen'ei and Hôan eras (1118-1124). The work is counted valuable as a 12th-century calligraphy manuscript as well as a record of the poetry contests that were popular among the Heian aristocrats.
