In this work, twenty-two letters written by nineteen renowned Daishi school calligraphers are pasted in the form of a tekagami ("album of exemplary calligraphy"). Twelve letters by the monk Sôon and others are mounted on the obverse of the folds and ten by Toriyama Sonho and others on the reverse of the folds. The Daishi school was popular primarily among Kyoto-Osaka (J., kamigata) court nobles during the Edo period (1615-1868). This work, a systematic compilation of letters by central figures such as Yuasa Tokiya and Fujiki Atsunao, serves as an important source of information for the study of Daishi school calligraphy.
