This album is a collection of various renowned works brushed by Chen Hongshou (1768-1822), beginning with the preface to the Orchid Pavilion Compilation, a collection of prefaces to Buddhist scriptures, and couplets by Tang poets. Aside from one linked verse written in the clerical lishu (J., reisho) script, the rest of the works were brushed in the cursive xingshu (J.,) "grass" script. The inscriptions within the album, dated Daoguang 1 (1821) and 2 (1822), indicate that Chen Hongshou produced this calligraphic work in his last years.
