This scroll is one among the many volumes of the Great Wisdom Sutra (Skt., Mahaprajnaparamita sutra, Ch., Dapanruo jing, J., Daihannyakyô) copied in 1090, (Yuanyou 5) during the Song dynasty (960-1126), at Chongming-si Temple, in Jurong County, Jiangsu Province. Bound beautifully into an accordion book format with six lines per half sheet, it has margins and ruled lines drawn vertically and horizontally in vermilion, with no vertical line marking the fold. A paper attached at the end records the donation of a sutra box and the writing of the title by Yongshou (n.d.), the head priest of Chongming-si, in 1339 (Zhiyuan 5). We have no other information about Chongming-si.
