This embroidered tapestry shows scenes from the Indian boy Suddhana’s quest for enlightenment, recounted in the Avatamsaka Sutra. Lead by the Bodhisattva Monju (Manjushri), the youth takes on a pilgrimage to visit 53 Buddhist deities that would direct him.
