These three tea bowls were excavated from the former site of residence of a Kyoto merchant named Urai Shinbei (dates unknown). The large number of wares unearthed between 1716–1736 suggest that he was an avid collector of such tea bowls and other ceramics, such as Shino and Shigaraki ware.
