This volume comes from a set of the Great Perfection of Wisdom Sutra (Skt., Mahaprajnaparamita Sutra; J., Daihannyakyô) that was dedicated by the priest Eijun (n.d.) and copied from 1112 (Ten’ei 3) to 1116 (Eikyû 4). A red seal in the shape of a pagoda is stamped on the back of each sheet of paper, and the characters for “Daizô-ji Temple of Izumi Province (present-day Osaka)” are written on the back. Today, 530 volumes, designated Important Cultural Properties, belong to the Shingon temple Mangan-ji in Nara.
