This porcelain dish was fired at one of the Zhangzhou kilns located in the southern Fujian province, China. In the late 16th and 17th centuries, Zhangzhou kilns produced numerous “five-color” (wucai) porcelains as well as blue-and-white wares in imitation of Jingdezhen porcelains for export to Japan.
