This tea bowl looks to be ceramic, but it is actually made of paper coated with lacquer. Many lacquer artists imitated ceramic Black Raku tea bowls. This was made by a member of the exclusive Hiki Ikkan family, which produces lacquers specifically for the major tea schools.
