This gourd-shaped pocelain rice wine bottle is decorated with a twist design of birds and flowers against auspicious motifs. This type is referred to as neji tokkuri (“rice wine bottle with twisted design”). From the Edo period (1615–1868) onward, it has been particularly favored and collected by tea adepts.
