River Fishing by a Secluded Village

Museum No.
AK1658

This autumn landscape depicts a tranquil scene in the Jiangnan region of China. The artist copied many elements from the Northern Song painter Fan Kuan (active 10th–11th century)--including the ink dots representing dense groves of trees on the mountains. It was painted by Huang Jun (1755–1850) of Suzhou. The colophon is by Qi Junzao (1793–1866).
