The four palmate leaves surrounding the central flower, as well as the undulating rim of this Liao-dynasty square dish suggest the design influence of Western Asia. Its reddish brown clay body is decorated in with sancai (“three-color”) glazes: white slip colored with green and brown lead glazes.
