The floor of this shallow dish (Ch: pan) has a stylized design of waves carved into its greyish clay bisque. This décor is accentuated through an overall coating of translucent green celadon glaze. Such characteristics suggest that this piece was fired in the Yaozhou kilns, not far from the ancient capital of Xian.
