This porcelain bowl is decorated with a distinctive technique known as doucai (literally “bean-colored”), which combines hand-painted underglaze and overglaze designs. Inside the footring on the underside are characters reading “Made in the Qianlong period [1736–1795] of the Great Qing dynasty.”
