The shape and the design composition on this handled cup show the influence of West Asian aesthetics. It was perhaps used as a pitcher. Though the body is inscribed with characters reading “Made in the Xuande period [1425–1435] of the Great Ming dynasty,” the whiteness of the body and the tone of the underglaze cobalt blue suggest this is a copy from the Qing dynasty or later.
