This globular jar with a bulging shoulder and three animal feet resembles contemporaneous metal vessels, likely used as incense burners. This ceramic version is coated with three-color sancai lead glazes, popular in the Tang dynasty. It is especially notable for its brilliant indigo-blue colored glaze.
