This ceramic pillow is decorated in the technique of sgraffito, coated with white slip and then incised with a floral design. A hole on the back wall shows it is hollow inside. Underneath is the inscription, “Pillow of the Great Zhang Family.” The yellowish-grey clay suggests it comes from a Cizhou-type kiln.
