This kind of storage jar was known as a tenthousand-year (wannian) jar because it could provide long-term sustenance for the deceased if filled with grain buried in a tomb. Coated with vibrant green lead glaze, this example has a wide neck, rounded protruding shoulders, and a constricted base.
