These obscure mandalas once held at Tō-ji Temple were traced on oiled paper from a Chinese source. The Five Buddhas iconography, seen both in the third drawing here and in statues on loan to the museum from Anshō-ji Temple, is associated with Eun (798–869), who founded Anshō-ji on his return from China.
