百果図巻 Image

This scroll is primarily filled with everyday fruits and vegetables, including lotus root, taro potatoes, eggplant, and water caltrops. The brushwork is sparing and simple, but skillfully captures the shapes and textures of each subject. An inscription at the end says the artist began this painting around age twenty-five and finished it nine years later after rediscovering it by chance.
