From the inscriptions at the end of the scrolls added during its repair in 1718, we know that these sutras are the Hosoku edition of the Wado Sutra belonging to Taihei-ji Temple. The then head priest of Taihei-ji, Ryuotsu, had this set restored in that year, and the frontispiece and title page are identical to the Wado Sutra. This Hosoku edition appears to have been copied in the Heian period, between the late eleventh to early twelfth century.
