Also known as Okada Tamechika, Reizei Tamechika formed the Society for the Restoration of Yamatoe (purely Japanese-style, secular painting originating in the Heian period) along with Ukita Ikkei and others. His approaching the Court and frequenting the KyotoShoshidai (office set up by the Tokugawa Shogunate to maintain security in Kyoto and the surrounding area) headquarters caused masterless samurais to be suspicious of him and slay him. These documents show how his studies were conducted.
